How to use NotebookLM to study long reports
1 min readBy Tiggree
A four-step workflow for turning long PDFs into answers you can check against the source.
NotebookLM answers based on the documents you upload and shows where each piece of information came from. That makes it useful for reading financial statements, market reports, and technical documents.
The workflow
- Create one notebook per topic and upload only reliable sources.
- Ask for a summary with the key numbers and dates.
- Ask specific questions, such as which risks are cited or what changed from the prior year.
- Click the citations and verify each figure in the original document.
Where to be careful
Limiting answers to your sources reduces errors, but it does not eliminate them. The tool can misread a table or leave out an important caveat. Before you make a decision, go back to the original text.
Avoid uploading confidential documents without first checking your account's terms of use and your company's policies.
